We’ve been talking about Advent traditions and their importance recently on the blog. Today, I’m so excited to share a resource I’ve created that will help you as you celebrate Advent this year. This resource is a study guide called “The Everlasting Joy of the Gospel.” This is an Advent Bible Study that dives deep into the meaning of the Advent Wreath and Candles to teach us profound truths about God, Jesus, and the Gospel.

In this study guide, we dive deep into the tradition of the Advent wreath and focus on what each specific candle means. Then, we consider what it means to have these different aspects in our lives today.
The Advent wreath is an ancient tradition that reminds us of specific truths about the gospel and the nature of God.
During the Advent season, the candles were traditionally lit each Sunday leading up to Christmas day. The advent candles were as follows:
- Advent week 1 – Hope: Prophecy Candle (purple)
- Advent week 2 – Peace: Bethlehem Candle (purple)
- Advent week 3 – Joy: Shepherd’s Candle (pink)
- Advent week 4 – Love: Angel’s Candle (purple)
- Christmas – The Christ Candle (White)
